Day 28

Because today was the last day it was spent going over any last day details that we felt needed to be cleaned up. The day was also a chance to go to any places we wanted to visit that we didn’t have the chance to before. These stores included several more lighting studios and several more printing companies. When we got back to the office we spent the time going over paperwork that was needed and going over how we felt the internship went. Overall I was very happy with the time I had spent at Mod Space and I really felt that it was valuable to me and my future in the industry.

Day 27

Today was a day of errands. Part of the day was spent running final errands that I needed to run to make sure my final BFA project was completed. The other part of the day was spent returning fabric samples to the design center and visiting more lighting stores. I once again really enjoyed the lighting stores as they gave me a couple of really good ideas for lamps I would like to design myself.

Day 26

Today was spent going to several companies that offered business card printing and other printing options. I really liked these trips as it allowed me to see how such items were created and was of great interest to me because of my past with printing classes. The trips also showed me all the new possibilities in printing today.

Day 25

Today was spent going over my project and making final adjustments to all the parts I had created. Some of the day was spent fixing CAD drawings I had created for the space which took a couple hours. After going over my project the rest of the time was spent doing small office tasks that needed to be taken care of.

Today was spent at the location of our presentation setting up all of our boards and samples. Because of our presentation materials which included a chalkboard from the building we were designing for and an old door the installation took most of the day.

Day 23

Today was spent at the building that we are designing for taking measurements of the spaces we were designing. These measurements were needed to make sure our CAD drawings were 100% correct. This time also gave us an opportunity to take pictures in the space that we could use for our presentation and for our 3D drawings we need to make in CAD.

Day 22

The entirety of today was spent going to several lighting studios. The purpose of the lighting studio visits were to find fixtures we could use in our designs and as a way that I could see what was currently popular in lighting design an area I would really like to work in. I really liked these trips as it was a great way for me to see what would be expected of me if I went into the field of this design.

Today was spent getting boards together for the presentation and also making our boxes that contained all the other materials that would be used in the space but did not work. Going through layout consisted of layout planning and some graphic design work.

Day 20

Today was spent laying out the boards we would use for our presentation of the space. Each board represented the different spaces we were planning and consisted of the materials used and pictures of any furniture that would be used in the space.

Day 19

Today was a short day spent going over CAD work. We went over the drawings we had made and adjusted them for better layout in the space. Today was a lot of problem solving with figuring out where we could put different rooms that allowed for smart space and still up to all codes needed to be followed.
